Once Is Enough

My word to you is RELAX and REST IN CHRIST. There is absolutely no need to receive Christ over and over again to assure that you have salvation. Once is enough.

The moment you turned from your wicked ways and put your trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, God began to do a work in your life that only He can do. He acted not because you “followed the instructions” of a pamphlet nor because you prayed a prayer, but rather He acted because you had turned in belief to Christ, His only offer of salvation. FAITH ALONE SAVES.

The slightest faith in the one true God is all that is needed to begin doing the work of God – John 6:28-29. Salvation is His work, not yours. Rest in His ability to do all that He has promised.

Jesus died for you at Calvary in order to deliver you from sin’s penalty forever – Hebrews 10:5-18; John 5:24; Romans 8:1. He now lives in heaven to come to your aid in the battle that wages against sin within now that you have turned your life over to God – Hebrews 7:24-25; 1 John 1:8-2:2; Romans 8:31-34. He has promised to come again to deliver your whole person from the corruption that is in this world – Hebrews 9:27-28; John 5:24, 28-29; Romans 8:18-25. His Spirit has been sent into the world to make this great salvation known to us by His abiding with and in us. So, rest in His love. Nothing can separate a child of His from that love. Salvation is the work of God from start to finish, and He has promised that He will complete what He has begun – Philippians 1:6; John 10:28-30; 1Peter 1:3-5 (Notice He is reserving things for you in heaven, so you can count on the fact that you will be there). Do you see these great facts?!

Now, once you receive Christ, His Spirit imparts His life to you and the Father translates you into the kingdom of His dear Son – John 1:11-13; 3:3-18; Colossians 1:12-14. All is based upon the work of Christ for you. We are already citizens of His kingdom, and we are but waiting for His return to complete the work He has begun – Philippians 3:20-21. Isn’t that great?! Of course, we are not perfect in our walk before Him, and He knows this quite well. But He loves us anyway, enough to make provision for us in our weaknesses and failures – Hebrews 2:17-18; 4:14-16; etc. As our great High Priest, He represents us before our Father so that there is no possibility that He will lose any of us – John 6:37-40.

Does God lie? Of course not!

So we have His Word on it, and He is able to perform what He has promised as He has made clear to us by the resurrection. He has conquered death for us and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. Do you believe Him? Then, you can rest in His care of you. When you get on a plane to take a flight somewhere, you simply put your trust in the plane and pilot to perform for you what you can not do yourself. Of course, they are not God, so they fail. Jesus does not fail. When you put your trust in Him to take you to heaven, He will. When you put your trust in Him for the forgiveness of your sins, He will forgive you (and forget!) – Ephesians 1:7, Isaiah 43:25; Psalm 103:11- 12. When you put your trust in Christ to be made righteous, He will make you righteous in Him – 2Corinthians 5:21. You see, all you have is found IN CHRIST – Colossians 1:28; 1Peter 1:3. When you put your trust in Him, He put away the old man in Adam and created the new man in Christ.

In His sight, you are now fit for His presence throughout eternity. You are now called upon to simply worship and praise Him. He alone is worthy. In Christ alone you are acceptable to God. It is God Who put you in Christ – 1Corinthians 1:30. Abide in Him – John 15:4-5.
